25th Anniversary Concert

Thank you to everyone who came out to our 25th Anniversary Concert! We are grateful for all your support over the last quarter-century, and we already have big plans, short-term, and long-term for the next quarter-century! Special thanks to our family, friends, donors, and funders for helping us accomplish our mission. And thank you to our special guests Quetzal (Grammy-winning rock band) and Sumie Kaneko (shamisen and koto virtuoso) for joining us for an unforgettable evening.
We hope you enjoyed our innovative mix of traditional and modern interpretations of American taiko music with our collection of authentic taiko drums, koto (Japanese harp), vocals, marimba, and shinobue (bamboo flute). The celebration was a dual album release party for our fourth studio album “25” and our long-awaited collaborative EP with Quetzal.
TAIKOPROJECT’s 25th Anniversary Concert was made possible in part by the Los Angeles County Department of Arts & Culture, the City of Los Angeles Department of Cultural Affairs, and our many amazing BaseBeat donors.

3/1/2026: We are excited to announce that we will be taking our annual summer home concert out west to Santa Monica, to the beautiful Broad Stage this year! Join us for a spectacular evening of taiko music with our sister groups, Bombu Taiko and Kitsune Taiko, in a brand new and intimate venue. We will be presenting a number of new works and updated arrangements of old favorites, including numerous pieces that were not performed at our 25th Anniversary concert program last year.
